Roborock’s Pet-Friendly Product Designs Bring Innovation Into Pet Care

“Poopocalypse” or “pooptastrophe”, whichever way you like to call it, is a nightmare robot vacuum owners (or the general population) wanted to avoid at all cost. As we scroll through robot vacuum history, pet waste and robot vacuums do not get along. The lack of technology to detect and maneuver around small objects means a loose pile of waste would get run over and spread around wherever the robot vacuum treads, which leads to the owner’s distress, and possibly even, into social media sensations.

At Roborock, pet owners are an integral part of Roborock’s formulation in building the perfect robot vacuum. With the company’s Christensen Lab ceaselessly developing and launching innovative products, features premeditated for pet owners are continuously introduced into products to make cleaning routines for homes with pets less of a hassle.

Dangling Pet Hair

“Our pet’s fur is one of the reasons why sometimes we just want to burrow our faces into their faces. And as we all know; the aftermath is often getting our clothes covered in pet hair. Combined with natural shedding, hair can be all over our homes quite easily, and a lint roller won’t be enough. A vacuum with powerful suction is key to easily cleaning up pet hair on hard floors and carpets.” says Silvia Lai, Product Marketing Manager at Roborock.

Roborock’s current line of robot vacuums are packed with suction power upwards of 2,000Pa, where it reaches 4,200Pa for the Q7 Max and topping at 5,100Pa for the S7 MaxV. What follows suit is creating personalized cleaning activities in the Roborock App so pet owners can maximize the robot vacuum’s cleaning efficiency in every space. Room-specific cleans and designated cleaning routes can be created for areas with pet-heavy activities by time and schedule.

The number of pets and their breed can determine the amount of hands-on maintenance the owner will do after every clean-up. Hair getting tangled in the bristle brush of vacuums is a common problem, so instead, Roborock’s robot vacuums use a rubber main brush with a molded cylindrical shape design that prevents hair from tangling and can be washed easily. As the robot’s dust bin starts to fill up with debris and hair, pet owners can opt to use a dock that automatically empties their robot, while Roborock’s array of docks can also store up to 7 weeks of debris before it needs emptying.

The Answer To “Poopocalypse”, And More

Roborock’s line of robot vacuums is equipped with tools to prevent nasty catastrophes. On top of the sonic scrubbing mop on the S7 and S7 MaxV that easily disintegrates wet waste and automatically lifts itself when a carpet is detected, the S7 MaxV is powered by ReactiveAI 2.0 where the robot can recognize and maneuver around obstacles including pet toys and pet poop. As part of the product development process, Roborock’s product R&D team has completed numerous tests both inside the company and at volunteers’ homes to ensure the robot can accurately identify and avoid different objects, including hundreds of poop-lookalikes. At launch, the S7 MaxV achieved a 22% higher obstacle avoidance rate compared to its predecessor.

Apart from avoiding obstacles, the robot’s owner has the ability to have it avoid certain household areas, for example, their pet’s bed at night when they are asleep. After the robot vacuum scans their new home, their owners can set up No-Go Zones and Invisible Walls where the robot would actively steer away from, preventing potential hazards or disturbances alike.

Helping Pet Parents Care

Whether our pets are playful or shy, sharing a living space with a robot vacuum that roams around can either be a fun or intimidating experience, and our pets can react in different ways. Take noise, for example, cats and dogs have much sharper hearing than humans, and when they see an intruder wandering around their space making harsh noises as it tries to vacuum, pets may hide under a bed to avoid this loud robotic intruder, or even attacking it. Roborock’s robot vacuums allow their owners to choose various levels of suction power and mop intensity to limit the noises it generates. A designated Quiet Mode can also be activated to reduce noises down to 63dB which mitigates jump scares and stress it can cause.

Most robot vacuums available can be app-controlled or be activated manually by pressing a few buttons on the robot. Coincidentally, pets are also fast learners and many have taught themselves how to deactivate their nemesis, and this can hinder cleaning routines. Roborock’s robot vacuums have a built-in child lock that can be activated remotely on the Roborock App, helping pet owners keep up with their cleaning whether they are home or away.

As humans spend more time away from home, interacting and checking in with their fur friends can become difficult. The best part about the S7 MaxV’s integrated RGB camera is it allows the pet owner to see through the lens of the robot using their Roborock App. They can essentially use the S7 MaxV as a moving pet camera with speakers and a microphone, interacting with their companions live and remotely.

Allergy Care For Pet Parents

Pet hair is one of the most common allergens causing discomfort, or worse, for pet owners. A poor-performing vacuum cleaner can blow and disperse allergens rather than gather them, while negligence in the process of emptying a vacuum will have the same effect. Knowing that robot vacuums need to be emptied more often than handheld vacuums due to their smaller dustbin capacity, the addition of a robot vacuum dock that automatically empties the robot’s dustbin can drastically lessen the human interaction needed to maintain the robot vacuum which exposes the pet owner to dust and allergens.

Roborock’s line of robot vacuum docks lengthens the frequency of emptying from every few uses to every few weeks. In addition, dock models with a dust bag design automatically seal themselves every time it’s being emptied to prevent dust leaks, while the current line of Roborock docks are at least E12 rated that captures 99.5% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The introduction of robot vacuums docks is designed to further transform cleaning habits and make homes clearer from allergens.
